Letter to Bush from Ahmadinejad: "Let me tell you what you're doing wrong..."
I'm sure you've all read this, or are up to speed on it. Let's just say that when Iran holds a truly FREE election without disqualification of any cnadidates we'll let them be heard on the success or failures of democracy.

Again, it's this 'my way or the highway' attitude that has gotten us bogged down over there - don't you think maybe listening to them is a good place to start?
We've done more damage than good in the middle east, maybe we shouldn't try to fix their problems anymore.
If I listen, I hear a guy who is drowning in unintended irony and not really saying much of anything.
So, what did we learn again? That "democracy has failed"?
I see.
You know, if you didn't know the source of the letter, parts of it are actually pretty sensible. He sure doesn't sound like a raving lunatic.
I'm sure I'll be called a raving lunatic for this comment.
Again, of course, we cannot even begin to take anything he says seriously, because then we'd be traitors to whatever it is we'll be traitors to, like blind patriotism.
No, we can't take what he says seriously because the totality of his statements are lunatic ravings that are abhorrent to things we hold dear like freedom of speech and resistance to totalitarian rule.
Exactly where in the letter does he assault freedom of speech? Mostly it attacks George Bush.
Seriously, have you read the whole thing? It does not read like a lunatic's ravings.
If you really think you shouldn't take a letter from the president of Iran seriously you're asking for trouble. You've got to take this seriously whether you think he's abhorrent or not.
This complete disregard is dangerous, but completely expected. This is why we have wars and get attacked.
Oh, I think we're taking the letter seriously. At least for me, I'm just going to say that I won't be listening to his thoughts on the failures of democracy when he's hasn't a clue as to what it means.
Fine, so don't listen to the democracy bits. God knows, the US is certainly the ultimate democracy!
Actually, we're not a democracy, but I'll let the others pick this detail apart.
What about the rest of it? Will we "let that be heard"?
(btw - we disqualify candidates for elections all the time. This will continue to happen until there is some real campaign finance reform. Right now, you can't be elected to a substantial office unless you're rich. How is this a truly free and open election?)
