What's This New Fangled Internet Radio Thing...?

My long lost audio engineering friend Kevin Christopher sent me a link yesterday to Vault Radio ("The best radio never heard") and I clicked over this morning and have been rocking out all morning. Tons of great rare classic rock stuff.

They played a bluesy Elton John tune that I'd never heard before titled "Can I Put You On". After some serious digging, I discovered that it's from a soundtrack for a film he and Bernie did back in 1970 that's no longer in print. Forntunately for me, it's on a box set of his old, MUCH better, material and have made the purchase (yes capitalists, I bought the whole album, on CD no less).

This Vault Radio thing could mean a rise in Amazon.com stock price if this morning is any indication...

I've seen that record in many vinyl bins, I never bought it because the cover was so gay.

But that's like seriously metal gay, with like leather and shit. This is pink and soft and reminds me of that stupid comic 'Love Is...'

WOW! When I saw this album cover I said to myself,"I woulldn't be surprised if Jackson had this in his collection of vinyl. No wait, it's kind of a gay cover".

Why are Judas Priest album covers gay?

BTW Jackson, If you see a copy of this next time you're vinyl shopping pick it up for me. The tune I mentioned is a "Take Me To The Pilot" sounding song and maybe they'll be some other similar sounding stuff on it.

The neat thing about this site is its origins. This was stuff from Phil Grahms warehouse. Comcast had bought the warehouse from his estate, and thought it was full of t-shirts and posters. Then they put it for sale and this guy bought it. While inventorying the place he found there were all of the live recordings of shows he had produced. What is on the web site is only a smattering of what they have.

I sure will, I'll get two, one for me, one for you. Can we hold hands while we listen?

Fingers,

Now I'm really intrigued. Some of the audio is not good, but now that I know it’s from board mixes it makes sense. I got a kick out hearing Grace Slick caterwauling like fucking Yoko Ono on the Airplane tune they ran this week. With few exceptions, she ranks as one of the most useless appendages in R&R history right behind Ono.

I didn't say the covers were gay.

Actually, I was kidding...

Many JP albums are quite gay, although I didn't figure that out until Halford came out of the closet. Who knew..?

Oh, the rest of us non-Metal heads knew. We knew all along.
