Last Alva sister off the market...

Much to the dismay of single men all over the Piedmont Region of Georgia and beyond, my sister Lisa was proposed to Sunday evening by her main man Mr. Merv Sweeting. The ring was discovered by my sister inside the butter dish during dinner, and as she opened it, Merv got down on one knee and popped the question. This would have been a hell of a lot more romantic if he wasn't sitting at my parents dinner table with a bunch of other family gazing at the whole spectacle. No matter. They called Mrs. Alva and I who were away at Mrs. Alva's family reunion in Gulf Port MS and we were delighted to hear the news. She of course replied "yes", and a November wedding is planned.

It is good to have another man in the mix down here and I can only extend my best wishes to the happy couple.

Wow, I hope that in-law family reunion was good. You missed Van Halen and Lisa getting engaged. Oh, did I open a can of worms, here? Sorry, I'll let you and the Mrs. fight, er, I mean, discuss what a great weekend you had.

Yes, Mathdude I think Tony will say the reunion was worth it. My cousin, who hosted the weekend is the V.P. of Food & Beverage at the hotel/casino where we stayed. The place was beautiful and the weather perfect. We feasted like royalty and a great time was had by all. I think your brother will concur.

It's been quite a couple of weeks for your sis, my MUCH older cousin. We are very happy with all of the results and look forward to July in Asheville.

Cancer sucks, yes, but colon cancer can be beat. My Dad had it at 45 and hasn't skipped a beat, now in his 70s. Lucky us, his children, that we get screened every 3 yrs with the violating colonoscopy, but it beats the alternative. My company is actually making part of these new pill-cams that take pictures of your colon, small intestine, bowel, esophagus, etc as it goes down your pipes, which makes the actually ass-scopy necessary only if the video shows polyps. And, no, they are not re-usable!

Finally, on Van Halen - I am so bummed. Tomorrow night's show in Raleigh was postponed to April 13, when I will be on a biz trip in Scotland so I guess I'll have to make do with the memories from my only VH show in the 80s(covered in previous posts).

It was quite an evening indeed! Cindy and I are hoping to wear a beautiful shade of sea foam green as the bridesmaids!

I hope the diamond didn't get all buttery. It would be quite as shiny.
